Monument record 0779701000 - North-east of Wellwick Farm

Trial trenching identified a domestic settlement dating from the late Bronze Age through to the Late Iron Age, with some evidence of Roman activity. Features identified included large Bronze Age pits, Iron Age ditches, clay-lined storage pits and a buried prehistoric soil. Roman pottery recovered from some of the ditches indicate some continued use into the Roman period. No structures were identified but the recovery of daub and loom weights potentially indicate structures within the vicinity. A number of undated features extend further south-east and north-west (B1).
