Description

A post medieval sand pit is visible on historic aerial photographs and remote sensing data as earthworks and was mapped as part of the Aylesbury Vale Aerial Investigation and Mapping project (EBC18604). Located immediately north of Warren Farm and centred at SP 85201 24408, the irregularly shaped pit is about 1,285 square metres in area. The feature cuts into a block of medieval ridge and furrow cultivation earthworks. By 1976 the sand pit has been somewhat levelled and this appear to continue until 2015, when the feature has been infilled. On aerial photographs taken in 2022 and recent remote sensing data, the infilled pit remains visible as a low undulating spread of earth (1-5).
