"Sherds of late Romano-British course pottery were found by Mr H Sassoon, at Oakley, in a ploughed field, SP 611106, between York's Wood and Hell Coppice" (B1)

Mr H Sassoon (The White Cottage, Oakley) made the above finds in 1960. The quantity is not known, but the material is held by the Ashmolean Museum (B7 and B3).

On a field check by M E Farley (B2) and G Lamb in Jan 1974, 2 pieces of tegula and about 35 Roman pottery sherds including Samian and colour coated wares were found in area centred SP 61021062 (B8).

The level field (centred SP 61091058) was under grass; however, numerous Roman sherds were found in the ploughed area (centred SP 60941064) on a west-facing slope. Nothing is visible on the available Aps (B9).
