Description

A double ditch of uncertain date and function, Akeley Wood School is visible on remote sensing data as earthworks and was mapped as part of the North Buckinghamshire Aerial Investigation and Mapping project (EBC18304). Located in a field immediately SE of Akeley Wood School and centred at SP 69302 37438, a probable double-ditch extends 214 metres NW-SE. The earthwork feature lay within woodland in 1814 as part of a much larger Stockholt Wood, but this has been cleared by the 1881 dated 1st Edition OS map (1-3).
