Monument record MBC45368 - Possible windmill mound approximately 450m north west of the church, Lillingstone Lovell

A possible windmill mound of medieval/post medieval date is visible on historic aerial photographs and remote sensing data as extant earthworks and was mapped as part of the North Buckinghamshire Aerial Investigation and Mapping project (EBC18304). Located approximately 450m north west of the church, Lillingstone Lovell, and centred at SP 70918 40794. This mound is approximately 20m in diameter and appears to be constructed on top of the ridge and furrow earthworks. The field boundary on the Ordnance Survey Epoch 1 map goes around the edge of it and the hedgerow still shows the same on modern aerial photographs. A windmill in need of repair is recorded within the parish in 1378, and Windmillfield is also mentioned in 1530, but the exact location is not given. (1-5)
