Description

A boundary bank and possible trackway of probable medieval/post medieval date are visible on historic aerial photographs as earthworks and were mapped as part of the North Buckinghamshire Aerial Investigation and Mapping project (EBC18304). Located on the north side of Back Street, Thornborough, and centred at SP 74347 33935. The boundary bank continues the line of the southern edge of ridge and furrow earthworks and adjacent to an old gravel pit shown on the Ordnance Survey Epoch 1 map. The field name recorded for this field is brickyard field but this is not shown on any maps available to the project and may explain why no earthworks are visible on lidar visualisations. (1-3)
