Description
Two small extractive pits of post medieval date are visible on historic aerial photographs and remote sensing data as levelled earthworks and were mapped as part of the North Buckinghamshire Aerial Investigation and Mapping project (EBC18304). Located field approximately 330m south east of Benthill Farm, Buckingham, and centred at SP 70825 32192. These are likely marl pits based on their location in the middle of the field; the underlying solid geology is Peterborough Mudstone and no superficial deposits are recorded. The pits are small, measuring 30x20m and approximately 36m across. (1-2)
