Description

A road of probable medieval date is visible on historic aerial photographs as earthworks and was mapped as part of the North Buckinghamshire Aerial Investigation and Mapping project (EBC18304). Located south of Buckingham and centred at SP 70432 33148. This road is visible crossing areas of ridge and furrow earthworks on 1940s aerial photographs but the area was developed after 1979 as the Badgers estate. This road leads towards the shrunken settlement at Bourton, south of the A421 near Buckingham, and follows the same line as a road mapped as part of MBC6040, and other changes in direction of ridge and furrow earthworks. It is not shown on the 1813 Ordnance Surveyors’ Drawing of Winslow. (1-3)
