Description

A trackway of probable medieval date is visible on historic aerial photographs and remote sensing data as extant earthworks and was mapped as part of the North Buckinghamshire Aerial Investigation and Mapping project (EBC18304). Located on the north side of the course of the Grand Junction Canal, Maids Moreton, and centred at SP 71535 34446. The line of a former trackway, between ridge and furrow earthworks, is visible on the north side of the course of the Grand Junction Canal. The Ordnance Survey Epoch 1 map shows limekilns nearby within a quarry marked as Sewell Pittes on the 1591 map of Maids Moreton, approximately 2500m west of the site of Maids Moreton Mill. (1-4)
