Description
A curving U-shaped bank of uncertain date and function is visible on historic aerial photographs and remote sensing data as earthworks and was mapped as part of the North Buckinghamshire Aerial Investigation and Mapping project (EBC18304). Located within Oak Wood and centred at SP 90936 28900, a shallow earthwork bank up to 7.5 metres wide curves southwards W-NNW for 107 metres, from which a linear bank extends NW for 52 metres, forming a rough U-shape. The earthwork is just visible on aerial photographs taken in 1946 when the area was not wooded but heathland, but does not conform to recorded historic field boundaries from OS map editions. It may be a feature of natural geology (1-2).
