Description
A linear trackway of medieval and /or post-medieval date is visible on historic aerial photographs and remote sensing data as earthworks and was mapped as part of the North Buckinghamshire Aerial Investigation and Mapping project (EBC18304). Located within woodland of Rushmere Park and centred at SP 91118 28487, sections of a linear ditch up to 4 metres wide is flanked in some parts by an earthwork bank on its E facing side. The interrupted track extends about 384 metres NNW-SSE and is visible on aerial photographs taken in the 1940s when the area was not quite as wooded as now but was more open heathland. On aerial photographs taken in 2019 and recent remote sensing data, the features appear to have been mostly levelled by the creation of a large car park (1-4).
