Description

Two parallel ditches of uncertain date and function are visible on historic aerial photographs and remote sensing data as earthworks and were mapped as part of the North Buckinghamshire Aerial Investigation and Mapping project (EBC18304). Located in a field about 180 metres E of Broad Oak and centred at SP 90478 27246, two linear parallel ditches up to 2.5 metres wide and about 4.5 metres apart emerge from the E side of the railway line for 57 metres to a field boundary, aligned W-E. It does not appear on either the W side of the railway or on the E side of the field boundary. The function and date of these features therefore remain unclear. On aerial photographs taken in 2019 and recent remote sensing data, the features appear to have been levelled and are not visible (1-3).
