Description
A system of post-medieval drainage ditches is visible on historic aerial photographs and remote sensing data as earthworks and was mapped as part of the North Buckinghamshire Aerial Investigation and Mapping project. Located along meadows W and E of the River Ouzel, west of Grange Mill Farm and centred at SP 90708 27279, a system of interconnected linear ditches parallel with and perpendicular to the river extend 345 metres SW-NE. On the meadow adjacent Grange Water Mill, a curving earthwork bank about 6 metres wide extends in an arc for 112 metres. The function of these earthworks is unclear but may be associated with water management as there are two drainage ditches that bisect the bank. On aerial photographs taken in 2019 and recent remote sensing data, the drainage system is still visible (1-4)
