Description

A system of post-medieval drainage ditches is visible on historic aerial photographs and remote sensing data as earthworks and was mapped as part of the North Buckinghamshire Aerial Investigation and Mapping project (EBC18304). Located in a field about 440 metres NNE of Rammamere Farm and centred at SP 92303 31074, interconnected linear ditches between 1 and 4 metres wide form a number of rectilinear and irregularly shaped enclosures. The 1813 Ordnance Surveyors Drawing shows that the ditches connect to a property boundary known as Dirt House at that time, still present on the 1881 dated 1st Edition OS map, but no longer named. On aerial photographs taken in 2019 and recent remote sensing data, the drainage ditches are still visible (1-6).
