Description

Probable medieval and/or post-medieval wood banks and post-medieval extraction pits are visible on remote sensing data as earthworks and were mapped as part of the North Buckinghamshire Aerial Investigation and Mapping project (EBC18304). Located within Duncombe Wood and centred at SP 91504 31389, sections of linear bank up to 15 metres wide extends NNE-SSW for 207 metres, flanked on the E side by a boundary ditch, running parallel with the E side of the woodland. Across the woodland are scattered at least six ditches that are possible post-medieval extractive pits, the biggest two being about 54 x 16 metres and 167 x 12 metres.
