- TRACKWAY (Medieval - 1066 AD to 1539 AD)
Description
A trackway of medieval/post medieval date is visible on historic aerial photographs and remote sensing data as extant earthworks and was mapped as part of the North Buckinghamshire Aerial Investigation and Mapping project (EBC18304). Located south of Western Green Farm and centred at SP 73524 33350. This trackway leads to the shrunken village at Western Green Farm (see MBC1794) from Lone Tree Farm House on the modern A421. This routeway may continue to the south of the A421 in former and existing field boundaries; the parish was inclosed in 1797 and the roads were probably rearranged at this time. It also appears to be part of a larger network of trackways on the higher ground south of the village of Thornborough and runs between areas of ridge and furrow earthworks. (1-2)
