Type and Period (1)
- DRAINAGE DITCH (Post-Medieval to Modern - 1540 AD to 1999 AD)
Description
Drainage ditches of post medieval date are visible on historic aerial photographs as earthworks and were mapped as part of the North Buckinghamshire Aerial Investigation and Mapping project (EBC18304). Located approximately 400m east of Bourton Ground, Buckingham, and centred at SP 72986 32923. These ditches were visible as earthworks on the flood plain of the Padbury Brook in 1946; they have been levelled and replaced by field drains by 1967 and modern land use appears to be ley pasture with no sign of these ditches or the ridge and furrow earthworks which were present in 1946.
