Description
Banks and ditches of medieval/post medieval date are visible on historic aerial photographs and remote sensing data as extant earthworks and were mapped as part of the North Buckinghamshire Aerial Investigation and Mapping project (EBC18304). Located on the south side of the River Great Ouse and the site of Maid’s Moreton Mill, in the parish of Buckingham, and centred at SP 71740 34218. These earthworks are on the northern edge of well preserved ridge and furrow earthworks on both sides of the road, leading south to the mill house and the sewage works, and are visible as a bank with a ditch on its river side, on the west side of the road, and two parallel banks with a ditch between on the east side of the road. Ridge and furrow earthworks are well preserved to the south of these boundaries and seem to fit in to a wider pattern of drainage ditches and ridge and furrow earthworks on the south side of the river.
