Description
Boundaries of medieval/post medieval date are visible on historic aerial photographs and remote sensing data as extant earthworks and levelled earthworks and were mapped as part of the North Buckinghamshire Aerial Investigation and Mapping project (EBC18304). Located at the south end of Main Street, Padbury, on the south side of the road, and centred at SP 71629 30311. A 1591 map of Padbury shows boundaries around four plots of land, possibly gardens as no buildings are shown, which can be seen on aerial photographs and lidar visualisations. The names of the owners/occupiers are shown on the map. A trackway/road is on the south side of these, between these and the open fields to the south, leading to Downe Crosse (see MBC7541) . They are visible as ditches and banks and some are recorded on the Ordnance Survey Epoch 1 map. (1-6)
