Description

A probable medieval and/or post-medieval subrectangular platform, boundary ditch and trackway is visible on historic aerial photographs and remote sensing data as earthworks and was mapped as part of the North Buckinghamshire Aerial Investigation and Mapping project (EBC18304). Located in a field about 135 metres S of Verney Farm and centred at SP 73597 25464, a trapezoid-shaped platform is about 60 metres WNW-ESE at its widest point and 15 metres SSW-NNE, with its parallel sides aligned WNW-ESE. It is surrounded by a boundary ditch up to 3 metres wide outside of which is an earthwork bank about 3.5 metres wide on its NW and NNE facing sides. A linear ditch that may be a trackway or hollow way extends 95 metres SW-NE (1-3).
