Description

An extractive pit of post medieval/modern date is visible on historic aerial photographs and remote sensing data as levelled earthworks and was mapped as part of the North Buckinghamshire Aerial Investigation and Mapping project (EBC18304). Located approximately 680m south west of South End, Leckhampstead, and centred at SP 72235 36908. Pit is in the middle of a field, so is possibly a marl pit, and is cut in to underlying superficial deposits of Glaciofluvial Sands and Gravels overlying soldi geology of Forest Marble Limestone.
