Monument record MBC45105 - Drainage ditches between the Buckingham Arm of the Grand Junction Canal and the River Great Ouse, Leckhampstead

Drainage ditches of probable post medieval date are visible on historic aerial photographs and remote sensing data as extant earthworks and were mapped as part of the North Buckinghamshire Aerial Investigation and Mapping project (EBC18304). Located between the Buckingham Arm of the Grand Junction Canal and the River Great Ouse, Leckhampstead and centred at SP 74265 36067. These drainage ditches are on the floodplain of the River Great Ouse and the River Leck, near the confluence of the two. The northern ditches are cut across ridge and furrow earthworks and they are all to the west of the River Leck, which has been canalised away from its former meandering channel, the northern section by 1970 and the remainder after 1993 and before 2003.
