Description

Water channels of medieval/post medieval date are visible on historic aerial photographs and remote sensing data as earthworks, levelled earthworks and cropmarks and were mapped as part of the North Buckinghamshire Aerial Investigation and Mapping project (EBC18304). Located approximately 380m south west of Hall Farm, Lillingstone Lovell, and centred at SP 71017 39759. The ditches are around the outside of an area of ridge and furrow earthworks, visible as earthworks on the 194os ariel photographs, with historic mapping showing the site of two large trees at the end of the 19th century. Modern land use has changed to arable and the field has been ploughed level but some of the ditches are still visible as cropmarks in recent years. These earthworks are in the field adjacent to the fishponds complex to the south of Hall Farm (see MBC1138). (1-4)
