Monument record MBC45097 - Road from Maids Moreton, across ridge and furrow, shown on 1591 map

A road of medieval/post medieval date of is visible on historic aerial photographs and remote sensing data as extant earthworks and was mapped as part of the North Buckinghamshire Aerial Investigation and Mapping project (EBC18304). Located north of Maids Moreton and centred at SP 70884 35698. The 1591 estate plan of Maids Moreton shows a trackway across ridge and furrow - called Ridgeway Furlong on the north side of it and Welmore (Well Moore) Furlong to the south, both in Rodwell Fielde; no name is given to the road on the map. This road is not shown on the 1814 Stony Stratford map, it has been straightened to the current course, probably as part of the 1801 inclosure of the parish. (1-6)
