Description
Seven extractive pits of post medieval date are visible on historic aerial photographs and remote sensing data as extant earthworks and were mapped as part of the North Buckinghamshire Aerial Investigation and Mapping project (EBC18304). Located between Church End and South End, Leckhampstead, and centred at SP 473045 237746. Seven extractive pits are mapped near Leckhampstead all cut through ridge and furrow earthworks and in to White Limestone solid geology which is a local building stone. The largest is 87x34m at its longest and widest and the smallest is 39x12m. (1-4)
