Description

Drainage ditches of post medieval date are visible on historic aerial photographs and remote sensing data as extant earthworks and levelled earthworks and were mapped as part of the North Buckinghamshire Aerial Investigation and Mapping project (EBC18304). Located approximately 500m north of the site of the church, Akeley, and centred at SP 70779 38326. These ditches, one of which still exists as a field boundary, were visible on the 1940s aerial photographs crossing ridge and furrow earthworks. Land use has changed to arable or maybe for growing Miscanthus and lidar visualisations show the earthworks are less clear, although one remains as a field boundary/drainage ditch. (1-2)
