Description

Extractive pits of post medieval/modern date are visible on historic aerial photographs and remote sensing data as extant earthworks and were mapped as part of the North Buckinghamshire Aerial Investigation and Mapping project (EBC18304). Located approximately 80 m west of the Rectory, Akeley, and centred at SP 70321 37557. Extractive pits, one in between two areas of ridge and furrow earthworks, visible as earthworks on aerial photographs but one is partly wooded. Underlying geology is Cornbrash Limestone overlain by Glacial Till. (1-2)
