Description

Trackways of uncertain date are visible on historic aerial photographs as earthworks and were mapped as part of the North Buckinghamshire Aerial Investigation and Mapping project (EBC18304). Located east of Foscott Wood, Foscott, and centred at SP 71370 36868. Line of trackways are visible as earthworks on 1940s photographs, at the edge of a field of ridge and furrow earthworks, running between a group of barns and a house and garden with outbuildings, marked as Foxcote Wood Farm on the Ordnance Surveyors’ Drawing of Stony Stratford from 1814, to the east of Foscott Wood, visible as extant buildings in the 1940s. Modern land use is arable and the buildings have been demolished. All that remains of the house and garden are some of the garden trees, a well is shown on Ordnance Survey Epoch 1 maps and may remain within the former garden area. (1-3)
