Monument record MBC45059 - Ridge and furrow in the parish of Beachampton

Ridge and furrow, plough headlands and ditches of medieval and post medieval date are visible on historic aerial photographs and remote sensing data as earthworks, levelled earthworks/cropmarks and was/were mapped as part of the North Buckinghamshire Aerial Investigation and Mapping project (EBC18304). Located in the parish of Beachampton, Buckinghamshire, and centred at SP 77696 36724. Ridge and furrow earthworks covered just about the whole parish on the 1946 aerial photographs. Lidar visualisations show that about half of the former area remains and this is closer to the River Great Ouse, towards the north of the parish where more pasture land use remains. Some remains within areas of earthworks of parkland, at Beachampton Hall, and shrunken settlements, such as at Shrieve’s End, to the east of Beachampton Hall. The parish was inclosed in the 16th century. (1-19)
