Description

Drainage ditches of post medieval date are visible on historic aerial photographs and remote sensing data as earthworks and were mapped as part of the North Buckinghamshire Aerial Investigation and Mapping project (EBC18304). Located between the settlements at Thornton and Beachampton and centred at SP 76150 37198. These ditches are on the floodplain of the River Great Ouse and run along its course, joining up with other water channels and visible further along the course of the river, on both sides, to the north and cut in to a wide deposit of Alluvium along the course of the river. The southern ditch has been infilled by the early 2000s. (1-4)
