Description

A triangular pond of uncertain date is visible on historic aerial photographs and remote sensing data as earthworks and was mapped as part of the North Buckinghamshire Aerial Investigation and Mapping project (EBC18304). Located north of Cowpen Wood, Thornton, and centred at SP 76975 35247. The pond is approximately 40m across and triangular in shape, water channels leading towards it are visible on 1940s aerial photographs but these are not visible on modern coverage where land use is arable; lidar visualisations show the pond and surrounding banks are visible but land use is woodland.
