- ROAD (Medieval to Post-Medieval - 1066 AD to 1798 AD)
Description
Part of a former road of medieval/post medieval date is visible on historic aerial photographs and remote sensing data as extant levelled earthworks and was mapped as part of the North Buckinghamshire Aerial Investigation and Mapping project (EBC18304). Located on the west side of the Stratford Road, Whaddon, and centred at SP 80358 34922. The road is visible as an earthwork across frilled which look to have been created from the inclosure of the parish in 1830; these fields are no present on the 1814 OrdnanceSurveyors’ Drawing of 1814 but the road is. Modern land use is still small rectilinear fields in use as gardens or paddocks. (1-3)
