Description

An extractive pit of post medieval/modern date is visible on historic aerial photographs and remote sensing data as levelled earthworks and was mapped as part of the North Buckinghamshire Aerial Investigation and Mapping project (EBC18304). Located on the edge of the shrunken settlement at Lillingstone Lovell and centred at SP 71364 40272. The irregular shaped pit, approximately 44x30m at its largest, is on the edge of ridge and furrow field systems on the east side of the former settlement. Underlying geology is Blisworth Limestone with no recorded superficial deposits overlying.
