Description

A probable Iron Age and/or Roman D-shaped ditched enclosure is visible on historic aerial photographs as cropmarks and was mapped as part of the North Buckinghamshire Aerial Investigation and Mapping project (EBC18304). Located in a field adjacent Hogpit Spinney about 500 metres SSW of Huntsmill Farm and centred at SP 63632 35090, a 2 metres wide ditch describes a large arch-shaped enclosure, with a flat linear SE facing side about 66 metres long and two ditches, each extending about 100 metres in gentle curve to meet at a NW oriented point. An incomplete but probable smaller curvilinear ditched enclosure lies centred some 85 metres to the west (1-2).
