Description
A circular ditched enclosure of probable Iron Age or Roman date, but possibly of earlier origins, is visible on historic aerial photographs as earthworks and cropmarks and was mapped as part of the North Buckinghamshire Aerial Investigation and Mapping project (EBC18304). Located in a field about 545 metres NE of Thatcham Ponds Farm and centred at SP 66246 40392, a circular ditch up to 6 metres wide with gaps on the south side encloses an internal area about 30 metres in diameter. The enclosure is centred some 67 metres N of a larger subcircular ditched enclosure. The features were visible as earthworks on historic aerial photographs taken in 1944, but are visible as cropmarks by 1973 (1-4).
