Description
A probable medieval rectangular ditched enclosure of uncertain function is visible on historic aerial photographs and remote sensing data as earthworks and was mapped as part of the North Buckinghamshire Aerial Investigation and Mapping project (EBC18304). Located in the corner of a field immediately adjacent New Inn Farm and centred at SP 68151 36512, a three-sided boundary ditch up to 4 metres wide has an open side facing SE. The ditch encloses an internal area about 71 metres NW-SE and 46.5 metres SW-NE. Against the internal sides of the boundary ditch is a three-sided earthwork bank up to 6 metres wide, with the SE facing side open. A block of medieval and/or post-medieval ridge and furrow cultivation earthworks abut the NW and NE facing sides, suggesting contemporaneity. There is no evidence of ridge and furrow within the enclosure (1-2).
