Description
Post-medieval linear boundary ditches are visible on aerial photographs and remote sensing data as earthworks and cropmarks and were mapped as part of the North Buckinghamshire Aerial Investigation and Mapping project (EBC18304). Located on the western boundary and within Three Parks Wood and centred at SP 65257 39166, a ditch up to 4 metres wide and about 115 metres long aligned SW-NE is part of a longer field boundary depicted on the 1st Edition OS map dated 1881. Extending to the SE perpendicular from it are five parallel linear ditches of various lengths, spaced about 14,17, 22 and 30 metres apart but not shown on any maps, visible only as cropmarks outside of the woodland. Within Three Parks Wood, two of the linear ditches continue SE as earthworks for a further 180 metres, converging towards each other at the SE end. Between the two ditches centred at SP 65272 39169 is a small mound of uncertain date and function about 7 metres in diameter (1-3).
