Description

A subrectangular platform of uncertain date and function is visible on remote sensing data as earthworks and was mapped as part of the North Buckinghamshire Aerial Investigation and Mapping project (EBC18304). Located at Lenborough Farm and centred at SP 68103 30655, a trapezoidal shaped platform or terrace measures about 77 metres NW-SE and SW-NE from 56 metres at its narrowest to 75 metres at its widest point. On the SE facing side there appears to be a second platform at least 40 metres NW-SW and an uncertain width as it is poorly defined. Some 44 metres to the SE, a third partial possible platform is visible, being an area of some 21 x 70 metres. All these features lie under a block of post-medieval ridge and furrow cultivation earthworks. They are quite ephemeral and barely discernible on historic aerial photographs, but much more defined on remote sensing data (1-2).
