Description
A Second World War Royal Air Force sewage works is visible on historic aerial photographs and was mapped as part of the North Buckinghamshire Aerial Investigation and Mapping project (EBC18304). Located in fields northeast of Tingewick Woods and centred at SP 65917 31865, the sewage works served the satellite camps for nearby RAF Finmere, with a buried and a probable covered pipeline extending west and southwest to the nearby satellite RAF camps. The sewage works is accessed by a road from the west. The road, sewage works and filter beds appear to still be intact in 1961, but by 1973 the site has clearly fallen into disuse and elements either being overgrown or partly dismantled. On aerial photographs taken in 2019, the sewage work structures remain extant (1-6).
