Description

Ditches of medieval/post medieval date are visible on historic aerial photographs andor remote sensing data as earthworks and were mapped as part of the North Buckinghamshire Aerial Investigation and Mapping project (EBC18304). Located both side of the watercourse south of Barracks Farm, Nash, and centred at SP 77879 33851. These ditches are in between areas of ridge and furrow and are on both sides of the watercourse, possibly forming a small water meadow system south of Barracks Farm. This is conjectural, the contours of the area suggest it might have been possible but none of the field names recorded on the HER layer indicate this is the case. It is hard to tell further without more information. The underlying geology is of Stewartby Mudstone overlain by Till/Diamicton and Alluvium, which is likely to give poorly drained soil. (1-3)
