Description

An extractive pit of post medieval/modern date is visible on historic aerial photographs and remote sensing data as levelled earthworks and was mapped as part of the North Buckinghamshire Aerial Investigation and Mapping project (EBC18304). Located approximately 190m south of Wood End, Nash, and centred at SP 78572 33682. Pit is bean shaped, measuring 29x13m and it is cut in to ridge and furrow earthworks. It is probably a former marl pit due to its location in the field and is cut in to superficial deposits of glacioflucial sands and gravels overlying Stewartby Mudstone. (1-2)
