Description
The site of a gravel pit of post medieval/modern date is visible on historic aerial photographs and remote sensing data as levelled earthworks and was mapped as part of the North Buckinghamshire Aerial Investigation and Mapping project (EBC18304). Located on the north side of College Wood, Great Horwood, and centred at SP 78825 33491. Gravel pits have been infilled by the 1940s and are recorded on geology maps as made ground; they were cut in to superficial deposits of glaciofluvial sands and gravels, overlying Weymouth Mudstone.
