Description

An extractive pit of post medieval/modern date is visible on historic aerial photographs and remote sensing data as earthworks and levelled earthworks and was mapped as part of the North Buckinghamshire Aerial Investigation and Mapping project (EBC18304). Located approximately 300m east of Little Horwood Manor, Little Horwood, and centred at SP 79575 31693. Sub oval shaped pit, 84x32m, possibly a former marl pit based on its location in the centre of a field, and just inside the former boundary of Whaddon Chase. Underlying superficial geology deposits of Head and Diamicton over West Walton Formation mudstone. (1-2)
