Description

A subrectangular enclosure of probable medieval date is visible on historic aerial photographs as cropmarks and was mapped as part of the North Buckinghamshire Aerial Investigation and Mapping project (EBC18304). Located approximately 380m north of the Scheduled Moat at Wood End, Little Horwood, and centred at SP 79569 31211. The enclosure is on the side of the medieval road leading to/from Whaddon Chase to the north and has an overall measurement of 50x43m but is subdivided to a size of 38x42m on the eastern end. It may have been the homestead of the parker or similar local official who had responsibility for the Chase (Cantor p434) (1-6).

Cropmarks of part of a rectangular enclosure of uncertain date visible on aerial photographs at SP 7957 3121. The enclosure can be seen at the edge of a large field, one side and parts of two others visible (7).
