Description
Two ponds of probable medieval date are visible on historic aerial photographs and remote sensing data as earthworks and were mapped as part of the North Buckinghamshire Aerial Investigation and Mapping project (EBC18304). Located east of the Scheduled moated site at Wood End, Little Horwood and centred at SP 79344 30976. The ponds are tadpole shapes, one runs along the same deposit of alluvium as the water channel to the south of the moat the other extends to the east on to mudstone, both could have been supplied from the same water channel as the moat. Plot boundaries nearby (see MBC43984). 1813 map shows a larger area of settlement at this site. (1-3)
