BUILT TO COMPENSATE MILLERS AT AYLESBURY IN 1797 &1798 SHORT DISTANCE FROM WENDOVER BRANCH OF CANAL. FED BY 2 SMALL STREAMS & IN WINTER BY SURPLUS WATER FROM FEEDER. LATER CANAL CO. BOUGHT MILLING RIGHTS SO COMPENSATION WATER DISCONTD. FOR MANY YEARS VIRTUALLY ABANDONED & WATER LEVEL KEPT DOWN (BI1).
