Description
An oval enclosure and a ring ditch with other enclosures, linear features and maculae of late prehistoric date are visible on historic aerial photographs as cropmarks and were mapped as part of the North Buckinghamshire Aerial Investigation and Mapping project (EBC18304). Located east of The Hollows (formerly Hollowhole Farm), Little Horwood, and centred at SP 78844 29456. The ring ditch is 16 m in diameter; the oval enclosure is 47x53m with entrances on north and south side with further internal divisions. Further linear cropmarks could make up a subrectangular enclosure (31x>68m (only three sides are visible)) and a further irregular shaped enclosure is visible on the west side of the features. Maculae ranging in size from 1.5-4m across are also visible within these cropmarks. Modern land use is arable; the 1940s aerial photographs showed probable cropmarks of ridge and furrow over the area. (1-2)
