Description

An irregular shaped extractive pit of probable post medieval/modern date is visible on historic aerial photographs and remote sensing data as earthworks and was mapped as part of the North Buckinghamshire Aerial Investigation and Mapping project (EBC18304). Located approximately 350m south west of Above Mead Farm, Winslow, and centred at SP 78611 27767. Pit is 65x62m and still exists as an earthwork on lidar visualisations; land use is pasture. Underlying geology is glaciofluvial sands and gravels overlying West Walton Mudstone. (1-2)
