Description
Part of an oval enclosure, with nearby maculae and linear feature, of probable late prehistoric date is visible on historic aerial photographs as cropmarks and were mapped as part of the North Buckinghamshire Aerial Investigation and Mapping project (EBC18304). Located approximately 350m north west of Dodley Hill Farm and centred at SP 79553 28620. Oval enclosure is approximately 50m long with a macula 20x8m to the south and an L shaped linear feature (27x11m) with two further much smaller maculae nearby. Modern land use in this field is arable and nothing shows on lidar visualisations; in 1946 aerial photographs show ridge and furrow earthworks and underlying geology is Diamicton overlying West Walton mudstone. Two further maculae are visible approximately 250m to the east (see MBC43728) (1)
