Description
A subcircular ditched enclosure of uncertain date and function is visible on remote sensing data as earthworks and was mapped as part of the North Buckinghamshire Aerial Investigation and Mapping project (EBC18304). Located within Coddimoorhill Wood and centred at SP 80936 32848, a subcircular ditch is about 4 metres wide and broadens to 5 metres in places, that encloses an internal area about 42 metres in diameter at its widest point. The enclosure is located within the former Whaddon Chase, a medieval hunting forest that remained a hunting chase until 1840, so may date anywhere from the Iron Age or Romano-British period to the post-medieval (1).
